Associate Director, Project Management

The primary responsibility of the project manager is to ensure the timely completion of projects, which will include both client and internally funded efforts. The project manager must be able to provide support to management in driving projects to completion according to agreed upon contractual milestones, scope and schedules. This position includes responsibilities throughout all stages of the research and development process, including frequent client updates, planning and scheduling of client meetings, contract management, project oversight, and accurate reporting of project information to the project team, senior management, and clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of designated project(s) to ensure that goals or objectives of the project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and budget.
  • Assist in staff planning and resource allocation
  • Coordinate, monitor and drive schedules, deliverables, and internal/external commitments
  • Prepare project reports for management, client, or others.
  • Help to prepare/proofread all project documents including study reports and PowerPoint slide decks.
  • Ensure that commitments to clients and internal teams are on schedule and within budget constraints.
  • Coordinate all client interactions through frequent emails, phone calls and meetings.
  • Identify risks and constraints that could negatively affect project performance and help drive reporting and resolution of such issues.
  • Continuous improvement of project tracking systems that support timely and accurate data concerning staff effort, project costs, revenues, milestones, and other key metrics of project success.
  • Lead preparation of monthly client revenue recognition (percentage of completion basis) and invoices based on achievement of milestones.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS and at least 5 years experience in project management in the research and development.
  • Superior organizational, interpersonal, and written/verbal communications skills and demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Hands on working knowledge of WorkFront management software and Salesforce a plus.
  • General technical and business knowledge sufficient to understand all factors affecting project planning, execution, and project management.
  • PMI certification a plus.
  • Ability to work with all levels of an organization and communicate effectively throughout.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical environment, preferred
